Young ethical fashion!

emmmmm

You can now buy Emma Watson’s wonderful ethical range on People Tree’s website. I’ve picked a few of my favourite’s and thought I’d show you them all : )

I love the little hot pant shorts, they will be fabulous for the summer. You can team them with soooo much, a simple vest top or dress them up with a pretty foral or glittery top and team with a blazer and pumps to finish the look.

The second picture I chose I adore all the items! The badge on the blazer is a separate purchase so you can have the blazer plain, but the badge is quirky!!

emmmmmThe logo is great and will get people attention.

Another great pert to this range is the price, all very reasonable. The shorts only £28, the blazer £65 and the badge £14.

Ethical dress No 2 for Mrs Firth

2nd dress

Here is the beautiful Livia in dress number 2. It’s made by US designer Casey Larkin’s label, Mr Larkin. The fabulous part is its  made from milk fibre!!!!

Disaster – Imagine your a few hours from attending an awards ceremony (or just a big night out for the less famous of us!) and you find your dress has been altered but it doesn’t fit? Oh no it has been altered wrong ! Eek what do you do ? Well if your Livia you use your status and get a top director’s tailor to come to the rescue. Livia found herself in the above situation when she was getting ready Screen Actors Guild awards. She had wanted the dress altered because it was originally a low cut dress but somehow in the mix of it all, it hadn’t quite gone to plan. Luckily all was well and she got to go to the ball…..

Here ‘s the little bit about the interesting part…..Milk fibre is a sustainable fibre. The fibre is milk casein protein and spun into yarn. Apparently it’s super soft, I can’t wait to be able to feel that. I find that my organic cotton tees are sooooo soft, so I could imagine how this would feel against the skin. Designer Casey Larkin also uses vintage sequins and trimmings to costumize the dresses. It’s great to know that there are designers that are ethical aware out there, I think they need to shout louder and let everyone know.

accessories blogLivia accessorised her fabulous dress with Stella McCartney ethical shoes which are super pretty and a gold handbag which is made from non-leather materials and hand embroidered, vegan and eco friendly.  She was originally going to be using her Luciana clutch made from can ring pulls, it’s beautiful but the gold would have clashed !! not something you can have on the red carpet.  Her jewellery are vintage pieces.

Colin  Firth (Livia’s husband) has been nominated for best actor at the BAFTA’s. All awards are great but the BAFTA’s are the biggy. So this will no doubt be a dress to go all out on. What will it be this time vintage, upcycled or sustainable fabric ??? What ever Livia decides I am sure it will be beautiful.

1st of Livia’s ‘green’ dresses…..

livia 1st

Livia’s first dress is a re-purposed Christiana Couture wedding dress. Here she is wearing it with a a simple black fabric belt and it is suddenly transformed from a wedding gown to a beautiful and very appropriate dress for the red carpet.

I can’t wait to see what is next : )

Colin firth’s wife Livia’s GREEN carpet challenge!

Livia has set herself an amazing challenge for the awards season. She is currently the creative director of Eco an ethical Livia - colin firths wife and sustainable boutique on Chiswick High Road in London, so being ‘green’ is something she is already associated with.

Her challange is to dress only in ethical fashion clothes for all her trips to the red carpet.

I’ve had a little search and here are a few possibilities I would choice if i was the lucky one on the red carpet!

clothes for red carpetHere I have picked a dress made by Minna – it’s made from Scottish lace and fair trade silk dress, the shoes are made by beyond skin, both the necklace and earrings are made by Fifi Bijoux and the tights (always good in the cold weather) are made by Sternlein.  However if I was feeling a little daring I would lose the tights and have lovely red lips to match the red strap in the shoes.

I found that there are more designers out there that are creating ethical dresses for example – eco gowns by Leila Hafzi. The dress is a beautiful creation and would look fabulous on the red carpet.

Emma Watson does Ethical clothes range for People Tree……

emma watson

I had previously seen that Emma Watson best known for playing Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter Films, has been helping People tree come up with a younger influenced clothes range. It has been on people tree’s website for a while but a few sneaky picture of the new range has been released.  The clothes look simple and easy to wear casually and then with a few accessories can be dressy. I especially love the waistcoat she is wearing in one of picture. (make mental note to self to buy in February when range is online and in shops)

Also on people tree’s website www.peopletree.co.uk you can send Emma Watson a video with a question on Fair Trade fashion!

Hopefully this will get more young people interested in the ethical and fair trade fashion world : )

Shopping is an Art!

Trying to become ‘green‘ can be difficult, especially if you have a wedding to go to and you can find a pretty dress that is eco friendly, that doesn’t cost the earth to buy in the first place! I’ve found on my search for ethical or fair trade clothes that some clothes, accessories, etc just haven’t been made in an ethical way yet. So it’smy belief that if I needed an item that I can’t find ethically made, then if I ask myself a few question before I buy the item, then I fell I am being as sustainable as possible!!

1 Does this item look like it’s been make cheaply? If so, I wouldn’t buy this because it wouldn’t last. The item has be made of great quality and then it stands a chance of lasting more then one season.

2 Could this item be a timeless classic? If so, you will be able to keep it for more then one season and mix and match it will accessories to change the look.

black dress

3 Will I wear it? if undecide it’s probably best not to buy it!

4 Is this an impulse buy? if your just buying it because you bored or you just fancy shopping then wait a few days and see if you still want it, if you do then buy it!

5 Could this be an investment buy? has your Mum ever said ‘I used to have a pair of shoes just like that’ mine certainly has! What I’m getting at is things come back in fashion so if you think this could be one of these item then it’s worth buying it andlooking after it! Or maybe it’s a designer piece that may become a sort after vintage item!! i.e a quality made pair of leather boots.

jacket 2

6 Lastly when you look at the item, do you think ummmmm I love it, with a big grin on your face! if YES buy it!!!!

It’s all about quality : )

Po Zu’s answer to the eco friendly Ugg boot.

006

So much to tell about these wonderful little boots, I don’t know where to start!!

Firstly how beautiful are these boots ? I will tell you….. absolutey gorgeous.  Po Zu have a real eye for detail for instance the sole of the boot is the company’s logo repeated along the sole.007 All of the trims are neatly finished with a brown stitch and inside the boot is so cosy lined in wool to keep your feet nice and cosy.

Now for the geeky part.

Po Zu use all natural materials, the sole is made from natural latex (vegetable rubber), the outer is super soft sheepskin tanned with vegetable extracts, the felt is undyed and unbleached felt from a mixture of white, brown and black sheep!

Inside the boot is a foot matress, this is the clever part…..the foot matress is made by coconut husks and natural latex. It will gradually mould to the shape of your foot to allow  for a perfectly comfortable fit.

Just to finish off , the box your lovely boots come in are made from coconut fibre. Which is 100% biodegradable therefore when you have finished with the box, you can use it for planting seeds in and pop it into the garden and watch your seeds grow.  Oh what a wonderful idea!!
